HIV and AIDS healthcare in Kentucky has been decimated since 2007. Unless you act, it will never be restored. The health of low-income Kentuckians living with HIV as well as the lives of those at risk of infection are in grave danger.

Declare state sovereignty over powers not given to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution; demand the federal government to cease mandates beyond constitutionally delegated powers; prohibit federal legislation requiring state passage of laws under threat of penalties or sanctions; direct the Clerk to distribute copies of the Resolution. The scope of power defined by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution means that the federal government was created by the states specifically to be an agent of the states.

- Health Facility Patient's Visitation Right (Hospital Designee Bill) 2nd Alert; this one is for the Senate. It passed the House of Representatives!

Allow a patient of a health facility who is 18 years of age or older to designate, in writing, an individual not legally related by marriage or blood, who the patient wishes to have visitation rights; require the health facility to note this designation in the patient's permanent medical records; provide that the patient may rescind the designation at any time, in writing. This legislation passed the House of Representatives, now we must get it through the Senate!

House Bill 350 seeks to remove HIV/AIDS training requirements for licensed service providers such as physicians, registered nurses, social workers, etc. Since treatment options change rapidly, it is imperative that all health care professionals know the physical manifestations of HIV/AIDS.
